  1. homeschooling is good way for children

homeschooling is a wonderful way to stay close to your children while helping them become well-rounded adults and teenagers. it offers you the opportunity to tailor your children's education to suit your children, your lifestyle, and your belief. schooling at home also gives you safe 'home base' for your children while they explorer the people and places around them. with the ability to individualize your child's education, you can truly f0ster a life long love of learning.
Homeschooling is a legal option for parents in most countries to provide their children with a learning environment as an alternative to public or private schools outside the home. Parents cite numerous reasons as motivations to homeschool their children. The three reasons that are selected by the majority of parents in the United States are concern about the traditional school environment, to provide religious or moral instruction, and dissatisfaction with academic instruction at traditional public and private schools. Homeschooling may also be a factor in the choice of parenting style. Homeschooling can be an option for families living in isolated rural locations, living temporarily abroad, and to allow for more traveling; also many young athletes and actors are taught at home. Homeschooling can be about mentorship and apprenticeship, where a tutor or teacher is with the child for many years and then knows the child very well.

    1. ANALYSIS
Homeschooling is good way for children
A recent article in the homeschooling is a good education ‘ Homeschooling is wonderful way to stay close to your children while helping them became well-rounded adults and teenagers especially in America. Authors Allena discusses schooling at home gives parents a safe “ home base “ for their children and also protect their children bad influence from outside, probably this article were incorrect or biased, because there are many disadvantages from homeschooling.
Mrs. Allena thinks that homeschooling is best choice to give children’s education through school at home. It offer you the opportunity to tailor your children’s education to suit your children, your style, and your belief. Crazydulouz doesn’t agree with the author if the children get education at home. Sure, the author might say that, they have plenty of opportunity to socialize even when home schooled. The author is missing out on an important concept that schools formals teach to students : the lesson of the real world, have curriculums, many friends etc.
In the article, Mrs. Allena stresses that homeschooling is legal option for parents in most countries provide their children with learning environment as an alternative to public or private school outside at home. I think that is big wrong, because many countries does not support their children to give children’s education through homeschooling. The parents spend their time outside like work or do daily activity and they can’t manage their children all the time. According Sheena snyder, Virginia beach, many parents don’t have the knowledge or expertise necessary to properly educate their children. It can be done, but it’s very hard to do.
In conclusion, homeschooling is not good for our children. Because there are many disadvantages such as no friends, no uniform, no regulation, no curriculum, can’t socialize with environment, etc. so school formal is the best choice for children’s education.

  2. Music education

In the opinion of an article from The Florida State University, "Music Education", which discusses "the importance of music education for the ability to think, feel and act". According to the authors, "music was instrumental in the development of the brain to think quickly and regularly, the ability to feel the response quickly, and the courage to act in overt behavior". How important is music here?.

Music education is not important to everyone, there are people who prefer to learn with music, some are not like learning music. According to the authors in the article strongly agree that education is the music. He has said, "music is not only caused an uproar, but also can stimulate to further enjoy in thinking". What does it mean enjoy in that statement? Do enjoy in thinking? Or enjoy listening to music?.

Music is the rhythm that makes the rest if the music is rhythmic Mello, but if the loud rhythmic music like rock music, not make peace, but the dizziness is more stressful if we listen to while thinking. I think music is not important to everyone, especially in education. Because not everyone can think smoothly and quietly, with music. It is unlikely homage to loud music can help the brain patterns of thought and work well. There is an opinion saying, "most of the 5000 cases of teen suicide related to depression as the negative impact of rock music and drug use with an arbitrary, and the lyrics' that give rise to acts of sadistic cruelty, than suicide itself."(http://gema.sabda.org/musik_rock_merusak_anak_anda). From the above statement is very clear that not all music can enhance thinking and helps humans to interact with both. Since everyone has their own way to think and accept with good response. So the meaning of enjoy in the statement of the author in the article, it is not suitable when paired with the world of education. Education is a formal event and can not be attributed to enjoy such music. Indeed, sometimes music can help the mindset of the brain, but not all music can help the mind-brain (rock music).

Similarly, analysis of articles about music education, and it can be concluded that not all music can be an inspiration and comfort in thinking. There is also music that makes depression and influence us to act and think negatively. Therefore we must be good at choosing the music flow can improve our mindset in learning. And use music as a stress reliever, not as an addition to stress. Thank you.

  4. Do we really need National Exam?

For government, National Exam is aimed to maintain the quality of education nationwide and to set up the national standard for junior and senior high schools. For this reason, the previous administration insisted that National Exam could not be eliminated.
However, the practice doesn’t sound as nice as that stated goal. It was reported that many students cheated in the exam. Not only students, some teachers were also reported helping their students to cheat. I think this humiliating practice occured because students were pushed to pass their education. Because the exam’s result influenced whether a student would pass his education or not, the students cheated in the exam in order to get good result. Besides, schools were also pushed to pass as many as possible their students because how many students they could pass and what the average result of the exam they could get determined their prestige and reputation among the public. For this reason, the schools demanded their teachers to help the students cheating in the exam.
Back to the question: do we really need national Exam? The goal determined by the government sounds nice. They want to improve the quality of education nationwide by means of a standardized test called National Exam. They want that all schools across the country have the same standard indicated by the minimum passing grade of National Exam.
However, those who don’t agree with the government argue that the recent condition doesn’t support the government’s decision. The government has not provided qualified teachers and required education facilities in a great number of schools – particularly outside Java Island – as they have already provided them in big cities. Students in Merauke, for example, do not have the same educational access as students in Jakarta or other big cities. So, according to those who don’t agree to National Exam, if all students nationwide are examined by the same standardized test, it must be not fair.
Furthermore, they argue that National Exam functioned to determine whether a student passes his education is narrowing the definition of education. Education doesn’t only covers cognitive faculty. It also covers attitude, personality, and skills. Hence, determining whether a student passes his education by means of National Exam only is not in line with the comprehensive definition of education. Besides, that will negate the uniqueness of students. As it is known, some students are excellent in their cognitive but they don’t have good personality. Some other students have impressing personality – and probably outstanding skill – but they are not good enough in their cognitive. There are also some cases that some students were smart but they failed in one subject examined in National Exam. As a result, they unluckily could not pass their education.

  5. Do we really need National Exam?

In the article which written by Mr. X “Do we really need National Exam?”, The government think it is important to do for measure students ability. They think it can improve nation education quality, but I don’t agree with that statement.

In the fact national exam make not only student who do deception, but also the teachers. It caused by teachers want to keep their school ability, their school will shy when there are many students who can’t pass the standard graduation. The nation exam just use lucky system, because there are many clever student can’t graduate from their school caused they can’t get the standard of graduation. Based on many teachers who teach in junior or senior high school confused to the nation exam items, not only student who study yet that materials but also the school is not get the study yet. It caused in the village and in the town or city are different lesson standard and the study tools whit make their student’s ability is different.

Finally, in my suggestion the nation exam should be deleted and the school who graduate their student. The government should only make the standard of graduation. It is very impossible if student’s abilities for three years measured in three days. The national examination carrier disasters, because many student be frustration, stress moreover suicide because they can’t pass their examination.

    1. Learning Disabilities in Children
.What are Learning Disabilities in Children?
First understand, what is a learning disability is NOT. It is not a sign of less intelligence or brain capacity. It is not a mental condition or disability, like autism, mental retardation, or impairment in vision or hearing. It is not related to emotional or physical disorders in any way. Do not confuse it with attention disorders (ADHD), or slowness in learning a new language or subject.
A learning disorder (LD) is difficulty experienced in learning one or more subjects, in a typical fashion. The brain processes and receives information, in a manner different from how it should be learned. For e.g. 2+2 = 4, can be understood as addition by one child. But a child with a learning disability, might not understand the "+" sign or the "=" sign, and how 4 was created out of 2 and 2. The extent and style of the learning disability, varies from child to child. A reading disorder in one child, can be present in another child, in a completely different manner.
The real danger behind such a disability, is the way it is treated. If ignored, learning disabilities in children have a "snowball" effect.. The causes of learning disabilities, can be social and neurological. Learning disabilities can be inherited, and are found in both boys and girls. An approximate 4 million schoolchildren and teenagers suffer from a learning disability.
Areas Affected by Learning Disabilities in Children
Reading: Here the disability can take many forms.
      • The child might be unable to form words or sentences from letters.
      • Comprehension might be a problem, where the meaning of words, paragraphs or a story is not understood.
      • The speed and fluency of reading is slow.
      • Recognition or matching of word to sound and vice versa, is absent.Example: Mat is made up of letters "m", "a", "t". With a reading disorder, a child could confuse "m" with "b". Or will not join them together to read "Mat". Another form of reading LD is unable to associate "mat" with "bat", as a rhyming word.Writing: Dysgraphia is the term commonly used to denote writing disorders. Handwriting, spelling, forming sentences, grammar and composition are key problem areas.
Example: Using "a" instead of "an" before vowels. Does not use prepositions and pronouns in sentences. Cannot punctuate properly.
Speech: Difficulty in expressing one's thoughts or ideas, retelling a story, fluency of speech are language related learning disabilities. Misunderstanding words and sentences, and poor response skills are other problems.
Example: At age 8, saying "thwin" instead of "thing". Calling a ball, a bell. Speaking only in phrases.

    3. Symptoms of Learning Disabilities in Children
Here are some common signs to look out for:
      • Difficulty in understanding and following instructions
      • Poor motor skills
      • Forgets or misplaces homework and objects
      • Cannot remember what someone has just said
      • Tendency to reverse letters and numbers
      • Problems in communicating and speaking
      • Avoids reading and writing tasks
      • Is easily distracted and restless
      • Slow in grasping or studying school subjects
Diagnosing learning disabilities in children, involves both the parents and school. Ruling out any visual or mental impairments is the first step, followed by tests conducted by a trained child psychologist. Cooperate with school officials and teachers, as the assessment and confirmation of the disability is confirmed by the school itself. A harsh truth about learning disorders: they cannot be outgrown or cured. Alternative teaching and learning methods, where you work around the disability, can help the child in the long run. Be helpful instead of hurtful. Criticism just makes the situation worse, instead be positive and focus on your child's strong points. With patience and understanding from all parties, do not allow a learning disorder to hamper your child's development.

"The Learning Disabilities in Children",an article by Rave Uno discusses about symptoms of learning disabilities in children. He said that if there is a child has poor speech in writing skills, difficulty with number, she or he could be suffering from a learning.I can speak only from personal experiences, but I agree with mr.Rave Uno assumption about the common disorder. However,I believe that we can solved it by knowing it before.
In the article,mr.Rave think that learning disabilities in children is not a mental condition or disability like autism, mental retardation or impairment in vision or learning, but only in children's understanding way.I agree with him.I think that every children has varies of understanding way.For example,in riding subject could confused to spelling "I"or "E" or in another form of reading reading LD is unable to socciate "sub"with"soup",as rhyming. It's one example of some general symptoms of learning disabilities in children as first point " Difficulty in understanding an following instruction".
In conclusion, there are many ways that can we do to help the children to solve their learning disabilities problem. It needs good relationship between children, family, school, and society. The criticism just makes the situation worse. With patience and understanding from all parties,do not allow a learning this order to hamper your child's development

    5. Playing with computers and education: a good match-up?
Simon Marcus Gower, Contributor, Jakarta | Sun, 12/12/2010 2:20 PM
For most people the answer to the question in the title here would be an emphatic NO! But such a response may be as emotive as it is considered. It is undeniably true that there are mindless “shoot ‘em up” games that seem to have little to connect them to education but researchers are not entirely dismissive of the educational value of computer games.
Recent research has shown that computer gaming can actually have some surprising benefits for the development of children. Those action games that seem so distant from developmental benefit, it has been suggested, can help improve children’s vision and advance their reflexes and predictive ability.
It seems that hours of fun playing games can be more than just fun; they can also be changing the way the child reacts and responds to a digital world and digital prompts. This may seem scary; we may think of a child interacting with a computer as something less than desirable but, strangely enough, there may be ways emerging in which such interaction and skill is actually desirable. For example, in the world of medicine computer gaming experience and skill can be seen as advantageous. With the growth of robotics in medicine leading to significant surgeries being carried out with the manipulation of robotic equipment it is claimed that people that are familiar with remote controls from gaming are, so to speak, “ahead of the game”.
This may seem hard to believe but it does, in some ways, represent what we must get used to — the simple fact that technology has changed the way we do things and it has changed our skills and abilities in ways that we could hardly have imagined only a relatively short time ago. Children are “techno-savvy” and this is both needed and to their advantage.
Children’s brains adapt and assimilate new ways of doing things relatively easily and this is an excellent interface with technology where change and development is practically a daily reality. Children’s ability to speedily navigate their way around a computer, or any other gadget for that matter, allows them to quickly become adept and so capable users.
Computer gaming too does not just exist in the world of wild “shoot ‘em up” games. There are many concentration, memory and strategy games that allow children to develop far more than just a trigger finger. The dexterity with which children can speed around a keyboard, solve problems and come up with plans is something of a skill in itself.
So, while we generally think of computing games and technology as being rather ominous and worrying for the development of children and education, it may just be that we need to reconsider our attitudes.
There is little doubt that technology is with us; it is a fact of life and it is all around us. What we need to do is make sure that it is being used appropriately and wisely. Computers and technology have to form a part of our education and development. http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2010/12/12/playing-with-computers-and-education-a-good-matchup.htm

      ANALYSIS OF ARTICLE

According to Dr. Rauscher at the article music education for Adult

Music is everywhere in bird song and in bubbling brooks and in laughter, even in the stars.
Music is the universal language that transcends time and space.
Music is one of the seven forms of human intelligence, all equal in stature and in potential. And
yet education asis almost totally geared to nurturing linguistic and logical-mathematical
abilities along, leaving the other five forms including music neglected.
An elementary school level more than half of all school districts in the United States have no
      full-time music teacher program.

      I agree with it
This benefits are positive. As directors need to be more vocal about the
benefits of participation in music and share this kind of information with school boards,
principals, parents and students. The abilities associated with the humanities and the arts are vital, both to the health of individual nations and to the creation of a decent world culture. These include the ability to think critically, to transcend local loyalties and to approach international problems .And, perhaps most important, the ability to imagine sympathetically the predicament of another person. One of the best ways to cultivate sympathy is through instruction in literature, music, theatre, fine arts and dance.
When people put on a play or a dance piece together, they learn to cooperate – and find they must go beyond tradition and authority if they are going to express themselves well. The sort of community created by the arts is non-hierarchical – a model of the responsiveness and interactivity that a good democracy will also foster in its political processes. And not the least, the arts can be a great source of joy.
Participation in plays, songs and dances fills children with happiness that can carry over into the rest of their education. We need to favor an education that cultivates the critical capacities, that fosters a complex understanding of the world and its peoples and that educates and refines the capacity for sympathy. In short, an education that cultivates human beings rather than producing useful machines. If we do not insist on the crucial importance of the humanities and the arts, they will drop away. They don’t make money; but they do something far more precious; they make the world worth living in.

Finally we must take the lead in sharing this information with the people that can make the difference in the future; school boards, administrators, parents, and legislative representatives.

According the author Simon Marcus Gower, at the article playing with computers and education : a good match-up, say that “ think of computing games and technology as being rather ominous and worrying for the development of children and education, it may just be that we need to reconsider our attitudes”. This statement I get point that computer and technology are ominous and should worrying so that development of children education can influenced of their attitudes, I agree about it.
There are many reason to agree about it, according the fact and reality now. First, computer and technology has many program, one of them is game program. When the children playing the game that use high think ability, indirectly this event do process development of brain the children. The brain of children more speed understand than adult, it makes the way of think brain children development with excellent. Morever, when the children plays, usually the children more concentration to what their playing with enjoy and fun.
Then, I think computer and technology are support the our development education especially for children. Because to the fact now, the children who skilled or able to use computer and understand about technology, usually clever and excellent with perfect development education. Beside it, computer and technology can makes children know and most understand about outside world of their environment. Therefore, can gives many information to children, so that children has many experience and scientific about everything with easy, wides, and development.
In conclusion, computers and technology very important for development education especially for children. This is a process to development of brain ability the children with playing games. Also, practise the concentration of children and makes the children can get more information about world outside their environment. As important for development education, so that it should be make more better and better.

Library struggles to stock ebooks are a symptom of a fearful publishing industry

By Hannah Waters | January 15, 2012, 1:07 PM PST

The last time I borrowed a book from the library, I never set foot in the door. I got an email notification that my book was available, logged onto the Brooklyn Public Library website, and downloaded it straight onto my ebook reader. But I paid a price for the convenience: fewer rental days, no renewals, and a wait time of 6 weeks to get the book in the first place.

Waiting on a line of 86 holds to download an ebook file, which would seem to be an unlimited good, seems a bit ludicrous. But it’s just one of the ways book publishers are trying to maintain control of the book titles they peddle, causing frustration for libraries. In yesterday’s Washington Post, staff writer Christian Davenport reported that ebook borrows across the US are skyrocketing and libraries are struggling to keep up with the demand.

"Frustration is building on all sides: among borrowers who can’t get what they want when they want it; among librarians trying to stock their virtual shelves and working with limited budgets and little cooperation from some publishers; and among publishers who are fearful of piracy and wading into a digital future that could further destabilize their industry. In many cases, the publishers are limiting the number of e-books made available to libraries."

Some publishers, such as Simon and Schuster, Penguin, and Macmillan, the WP reports, are not releasing their new titles or any titles for library borrowing. Additionally, publishers are requiring libraries to re-purchase ebooks after a certain number of checkouts. The requirement tries to replicate profits made from physical book checkout, as hard copies wear out and fall apart over time, forcing libraries to buy fresh replacement copies.

Can this really be the future of libraries? Public libraries exist to provide equal access to information and education, and many of the systems therein such as holds and fines were set up because physical books are a limited commodity. But digital books are not limited in the same way; nonetheless, publishers are trying to force ebooks into the same model as physical books.

This practice does not seem sustainable. First of all, we’ve seen another industry try to peddle digital media in the same way as physical content — the music industry — and that doesn’t seem to have worked out so well. Second, if libraries exist to provide information and are funded by the public, why should the book industry make the rules?

On the other hand, who can blame them? Stripping the files of their digital rights management, which prevents the ebooks from being copied and shared without limit, can’t be too difficult. Selling the files to a library could essentially be seen as a free handout of the titles with no profit for the publishers.

Digital media may simply require a new model. Will it work like Netflix, with publishers licensing their entire collections to the government for an annual payment in exchange for unlimited borrowing? Or will the industry rupture as unlocked ebooks spread, hailing the end of large presses?

Library struggle to stock ebooks are a symptom of a fearful publishing industry

In the article” Library struggle to stock e-books are a symptom of a fearful publishing industry”, the author, Hannah Waters state that “Digital media may simply require a new model. Will it work like Netflix, with publishers licensing their entire collections to the government for an annual payment in exchange for unlimited borrowing … or the industry rupture as unlocked e-books spread, hailing the end of large presses?”. I agree with her statement that digital media need a different model to give information to public, not replace the existing physical books.

According to Wikipedia information, a book is a set of written, printed, illustrated, or blank sheets, made of ink, paper, parchment, or other materials, usually fastened together to hinge at one side. Writing was invented in ancient civilization, people need to memorize what they have got, and they wrote it on a concrete thing, such on a stone tablet, but it’s difficult to brought, then they think and try to wrote in a piece of paper as what we read preset. But in this atomic age, physical books position slightly replaced by the books that produced in electronic format; known as electronic book (e-book).

The article tells that the library is a building no more, it was transformed to such a virtual system that provide unlimited books to the reader, and it’s true, most students’ papers or assignments usually using e-books reference, and it’s difficult to lecture to make sure, who was wrote their paper? Themselves, or somebody else. Perhaps, sometime in the future, most paper and book industries is turn to out of business, people doesn’t know a concrete thing which made from paper and hinged at one side called book, in the other side they use a gadget that give them information about anything, but what will happen if there is no physical book? Their gadget’s battery or power is running out, and at the same time the need information to read, what they will do? They can’t do anything, so physical books are very important right?

As a final point, a physical book service in people’s heart is unchangeable, even its form is insubstantial, but it can provide unlimited knowledge to the people anytime and anywhere. Yes, electronic book in not completely inappropriate to use, it’s an additional source to strengthen the people knowledge, but it should use different model to published, not replace the existing library and physical book.

Music Education in our Public Schools

Music is everywhere in bird song and in bubbling brooks and in laughter, even in the stars.
Music is the universal language that transcends time and space.
Music is one of the seven forms of human intelligence, all equal in stature and in potential. And
yet education -- as is -- is almost totally geared to nurturing linguistic and logical-mathematical
abilities along, leaving the other five forms -- including music -- neglected.
An elementary-school level more than half of all school districts in the United States have no
full-time music teacher. And thus our schools tend to refine intellects but neglect to discipline
emotions, and undisciplined emotions keep getting us into trouble.

The ugliest headlines are about somebody who may have been smart as all get-out -- smart
enough to be a bank executive or a politician or a scientist. But if emotionally color blind, he's an
unguided missile inevitably destined to self-destruct. Without the arts -- including music -- we
risk graduating young people who are "right-brain damaged. "for anyone to grow up complete,
    music education is imperative.
In the study, conducted by Drs. Christo Pantev, Larry Roberts and Almut Engelien,
researchers examined images of the auditory brain regions of 20 trained musicians and 13 nonmusicians, all of whom were in their 20’s. The musicians had played instruments for 15 to 21
years and now practiced 10 to 40 hours a week. When piano notes were played to both groups,
the response to the piano sounds was 25 percent higher in the musician group. But when the
same frequencies were heard as beeps rather than as piano notes, the two groups’ brains looked
    the same.
The study also concluded that the younger the musicians were when they began their musical
training, the larger their areas of brain activity. The increased response to piano tones was the
same in those who played piano, woodwinds or stringed instruments, although most of the
musicians said they had received early piano training. Musical training, specifically piano instruction appears to
dramatically enhance a child’s abstract thinking skills and spatial-temporal ability – skills
necessary for mathematics and science – even more than computer instruction does.
The combination of these scientific findings, plus ongoing research into the field, continues
to point to one conclusion: music has an obvious impact on the brain and should be supported
and encouraged in early childhood education.
    Source.
The study also shows that music activates the cerebellum, challenging the 150-year-old
hypothesis that this part of the brain (containing 70 percent of all brain cells) only controlled
    motor function.
Both of these findings are significant because they could aid in the rehabilitation of stroke
and other brain trauma patients who have lost speech capabilities. Melodic Intonation Therapy,
where people sing what they want to say to improve fluency of speech, is a primary method of
    language rehabilitation.
This new research provides insight into the function of the right brain areas, or music areas,
which are recruited by the left side of the brain during therapy. Understanding the relationship
between the two will give researchers the tools to develop other music-based speech
    rehabilitation therapies.
It is estimated that 80,000 people develop a speech aphasic condition, or speech delivery
problem, from strokes or other brain trauma each year.
Combining this kind of information with the scientific data available concerning the positive
impact of music is a powerful argument that needs to be shared with the public. Every music
educator must do their part to share this kind of information with others if we are to keep our
    programs.

Teachers Helping Teachers is a terrific site for all teachers, but its Special Education section provides a number of activities that are specifically geared toward teaching basic skills to special students. The activities, for students from kindergarten through high school, are submitted by classroom teachers from around the country and include lessons in reading, math, geography, current events, and study skills. The activity Weird Letters, for example, helps students with learning disabilities identify and remember letters that don't always look they way they're supposed to. Using Newspapers is a functional activity designed to teach social studies or language arts to special-education students. This site also includes information on inclusion and mainstreaming and The Guest Book, a forum where teachers exchange ideas and advice.
Special Needs, Special Kids, created by a special-needs mediator, provides an abundance of information about specific disabilities, such as autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, epilepsy, and spinal bifida. In addition, the site provides educational resources, including games and suggestions for adapting them to children with a variety of disabilities, activities for developing fine-motor skills, and discussions of a variety of special-education issues. The site provides insights into such topics as American Sign Language and wheelchair etiquette, as well as resources for 98 Ways to Say "Very Good" and the Ten Commandments for Educators. This is a well-written, easily navigable site that provides a wide variety of useful resources.
Finally, you may want to promote home-school interaction by sharing Very Special Home Pages with families of special students. This site provides free home pages for children and adults with special needs. Each biography, written by a parent or caregiver, displays the talents, hobbies, and personality of the person with special needs and allows visitors to see beyond the disability.

A recent article in the Education World, “Lessons and activities for special students ” concern about special children who need teaching basic skills lessons and activities in their daily life of education. I agree with this statement, most of the information in this article is simply true.
According to authors that Special Education section provides a number of activities that are specifically geared toward teaching basic skills to special students. The activity Weird Letters, for example, helps students with learning disabilities identify and remember letters that don't always look they way they're supposed to. Then, the site provides insights into such topics as American Sign Language and wheelchair etiquette, as well as resources for 98 Ways to Say "Very Good" and the Ten Commandments for Educators because it can promote home-school interaction by sharing Very Special Home Pages with families of special students. I agree with this problem because the special student can get the best basic skills lessons and activities in their daily life of education and we can apply it with art method. In fact, the people who working with Special Needs Students In art say “we can advise a lot of lessons that effect their other senses besides just the 2-D art for the Autistic students.
Special Education is very important and good for the special student because it can increase their ability and activities toward teaching basic skills to special students then we might promote home-school interaction by sharing with families of special students.

An article which give us some sides and opinions why school and government have to permit student bringing cellphone to school. As analogical, this article enclose sample of children education by using radio technology in hinterland of Australia. This article also tells us that cellphone is useful for student in increasing knowledge and doing learning process without consider that city students’ bad habits in using cellphone will happen to hinterland student. The article also more discuss other topic:benefits of cellphone than main discussion. So that this article simply wrong and not too suitable for reference.
In the first paragraph, the author tell us that cell phone has many benefits in every side of life. Of course we know, in in this age cell phone become premier needs after food. He also tell that in developing country, cell phone users are still ignorant of the usefulness of cell phone: only obviously still used for conversation and staying in touch. I less agree for this statement. We know cell phone is used not only for conversation, but also for access internet and find many new knowledges and informations. I comment it just for introduction. Because you can look the article discuss benefit of cellphone more than half of contains. Whereas the main discussion is about cellphone in school. But the author only write little about it.
In the next paragraph, the author explains that cellphone is usefull for used in areas where education of youth is prevented either by conflict, distance or terrain, or simply a lack of time due to hours spent working. According to him, cell phone can help student to get some learning material that maybe unavailable traditionally (in book). But in my opinion,in hinterland , city students’ bad habits in using cellphone also will happen. Thessre are more many reasons why student is better not bring cell phone to scholl, either in normal school or hinterland school, among of them: first, As technology is getting sophisticated and complex, the students are devising ingenious ways to cheat in the exams with the help of cell phones. Second, cell phones in schools has widened the gap among friends as virtual friendship has gained priority. Third, it will definitely deviate their concentration from studies.
In the last of this article, the author suggests governments may be better off distributing cell phones than laptops. We know cell phone has limitedness than laptop. Eventhough we can access internet by cellphone but the appereance is not as good as laptop. Furthermore, cell phone can’t be used for typing and do some assignment. Laptop is more suitable for used in learning process than cellphone.
In Conclusion, this article has mismatch tittle and content. The tittle: “No Phone in School”. But the contain is arguments and suggestions that cellphone is good to be brought to school. A fatal mistake that may not happen. The main discussion also too short, shorter than introduction. But, out of context, this article good enough to remind readers especially government,to give more attention to hinterland student.

  13. Homeschooling
    By Barb Shelton
As for an older child, if they are willing to homeschool, I would consider it a tremendous blessing to get to have the last two years of high school to have with them and for them to experience a much great(er) amount of freedom and creativity in their education! Homeschooling may also be a factor in the choice of parenting style. Homeschooling can be an option for families living in isolated rural locations, living temporarily abroad, and to allow for more traveling; also many young athletes and actors are taught at home
There are many articles in the "Homeschooling Basics" section of my Article Chart that will give you many good reasons for why homeschooling is superior to public or private school. Or maybe I should say "can be superior", because it isn't automatic. But I hesitate to even say that because you have to define "superior" before you can understand what I mean by that. And to understand the adjective ~ superior ~ you have to first know what it's describing: in this case, "education." That's what my "Season of Re-education and Renewing of the Mind" is all about. We naturally have a preconceived idea about what "education" is, and as long as we think it's the same thing as "school at home" we will strive for the wrong thing, and waste a lot of time, money and love of learning in the process.

  14. A recent article published on http://www.homeschooloasis.com/art_is_hs_as_good_as_ps.htm, “Homeschooling”, concerns the children should choose homeschooling than public or private school. Author Barb Shelton discusses that children were given many good reasons for why they must choose home schooling. Probably because the author’s sources just from some aspects which are not too accurate for this problem. This information is not good and suitable especially in our country condition.
According the author, homeschooling is a better choice than public or private school. “There are many articles in the homeschooling basics section of my article chart that will give you many good reasons why homeschooling is superior to public or private school”. The word “superior” for homeschooling doesn’t have strong support reasons. Homeschooling gives bad effects for some children that study in public school. For example, there are many children get out from public school and get in to homeschooling. Moreover, public school is legal education that must be followed by all children especially in Indonesia. They may take homeschooling, but never leave public school. Homeschool just for addition, to get more knowledge. In fact, there are many disadvantages of homeschooling that must be avoided. Homeschooling causes the children interaction is very limited. They don’t have any friends such as other children in public school. There is no competition there which makes children can’t compare how far their ability. Isabel Shaw, an observer of education also supports that homeschooling is not appropriate choice for children as their formal education. It is just for extra lesson to get more knowledge. We may take homeschooling, but public school is still the first. So we must be careful for everything in our life especially about education. We may not be rash to do everything .We must do our obligation as children to take our main education in public school, not in homeschooling.
Overall, homeschooling spends a lot of money and also make children don’t have good interaction with their environment. It doesn’t have regulation, curriculum, and uniform as in public school. We also can’t know how far our ability, because there is no competition there. So, decide the best way for our education, never be rash! Education will determine our future.

    A JUGGLING ACT
    Sources: http://www.educationworld.com

Up the road at Doctors Inlet Elementary School in Middleburg, Florida, the most efficient way to handle Exceptional Student Education (ESE) students is to put them all in a single class at each grade level. In that way, "we are able to assign 2 teachers -- a regular classroom teacher and a special education teacher -- to each class," said Principal Larry Davis. "In the typical inclusion classroom, a teacher will conduct a content lesson, and then the students will go to an assigned group for follow-up instruction focusing on that group's special needs or learning strengths.
Inclusion also is working well at Southdown Elementary School in Houma, Louisiana. "We have six special education teachers for 550 students; 110 of those students have been identified with special needs," said Principal Betty Peltier. "Three of the special education teachers are assigned to self-contained classrooms for students -- mostly those classified as mildly, moderately, or severely retarded -- who are functioning two or more years below grade level. The other three teachers are assigned to inclusion classrooms; aone is assigned to grades 1 and 2, one to grades 3 and 4, and one to grades 5 and 6."
The special education teachers focus on reading and math instruction, Peltier told Education World. Whenever possible, paraprofessionals support students' work in other subjects. As is the case in many other schools, grouping together inclusion students is the most efficient use of personnel at Southdown. "That often translates into some classrooms having a larger numbers of inclusion students than others," Peltier said. For example, the third grade has 12 special-needs students. The most efficient approach was to group them in a single classroom, even though that created a class in which 12 of 18 students have special needs. In fourth grade, which has 20 special-needs students, each fourth-grade classroom was assigned 10 special students, so the inclusion teacher must split her time between both classes. As a result, the special education/inclusion teacher assigned to grades 3 and 4 spends roughly one-third of her time in each of three classrooms.
Due to schedules and other considerations, "if I divided the special-needs students into more classrooms, it couldn't work at all," Peltier noted. "Inclusion for most of our special education students is working quite well," said Principal Patricia Green of Cedar Heights Junior High School, Port Orchard, Washington. "The students take most of their classes in a general education environment.
"We've found that kids will rise to the level of expectations placed on them, and that behaviour is often better when special ed kids are 'included' rather than isolated in a resource room where a collection of poor behaviours tends to surface.
"Whenever the number of special education students exceeds 12 in a basic education classroom, we assign a special education teacher or a paraprofessional to team with the basic education teacher. That additional resource person is good for all the students in the class, while ensuring that the specific IEP needs of the inclusion students are met."

    ANALYZING OF ARTICLE
    A JUGGLING ACT
    Sources: http://www.educationworld.com

A recent article in Educational World Site, “A Juggling Act “concerns each one of principals solve inclusion challenges for helping Exceptional Student Education (ESE) student. Authors Les Potter, Larry Davis, and Betty Peltier discuss about how way to solve challenge toward students with disabilities. This information is good for readers especially if you are paraprofessionals or a special education teacher and the resources examine how schools and affected students are doing. I agree with the authors about this, because it will help the exceptional student education to be cared and better rather they are ignored.
According to author peltier, "We have six special education teachers for 550 students; 110 of those students have been identified with special needs. Three of the special education teachers are assigned to self-contained classrooms for students mostly those classified as mildly, moderately, or severely retarded who are functioning two or more years below grade level. The other three teachers are assigned to inclusion classrooms; one is assigned to grades 1 and 2, one to grades 3 and 4, and one to grades 5 and 6." I think this ways can make paraprofessional teacher to be easy in control the special needs student. They can solve all problems of student and more focus in teach students because every class have two teacher, one teacher focusing for special need student that teaching reading and match, another teacher focusing for inclusion class. This principal is effectively using rather one teacher in a class which have two kinds’ inclusive students. According author as is the case in many other schools, grouping together inclusion students is the most efficient use of personnel. That often translates into some classrooms having a larger numbers of inclusion students than other. She also gives example; the third grade has 12 special-needs students.
In conclusion, the juggling act is one principals to solve the challenges in educating students with special needs and for students of limited ability. Then, paraprofessionals teachers for students with special needs can be added so as not to difficult to manage schedules.

What Is So Important About Early Childhood Education?
Many people have reservations about the importance of pre-kindergarten education. This was clearly manifest in 2006 when the California legislature unsuccessfully attempted to pass a law that would make pre-school education mandatory for all children. Many Californians did not agree with the importance of using tax payer funds to fund mandatory pre-school programs, including parents desiring to educate their children themselves.

Research has show that children enrolled in Head Start programs benefit by receiving formal education before kindergarten. According to some studies, children enrolled in these programs are more behaved and have higher IQ scores upon enrolling kindergarten than their peers without formal education. Likewise, it was shown that children enrolled in Head Start programs learned quicker than children not enrolled in these programs.

Critics of pre-kindergarten education claim the differences between children enrolled in pre-school programs and children not receiving formal education are only discernible during kindergarten, first, and second grade. During subsequent years, children who’ve not received formal education prior to kindergarten test at the same level and behave like their peers with pre-kindergarten formal education. Therefore, Head Start children may be at an advantage for a couple of years, but after that, their classmates perform at similar levels. Another major problem with Head Start programs is that children qualifying for these programs usually come from families living below poverty-line, so these programs are not readily available for children from all backgrounds. However, children can receive formal education in other ways other than Head Start programs, including daycare and parents teaching their young children. Even though children in daycare programs can develop intellectually, children benefit most when parents stay at home with their children and educate them.

Most childhood education specialists claim that young children learn best when they’re not pushed too hard, they have an opportunity to interact with their peers, and their parents and instructors treat them kindly. Likewise, children learn best when instruction and educational activities are only a small portion of their days. This is especially true of children enrolled in pre-school programs since it’s not good for young children to be separated from their parents for extended periods of time. Children usually do not benefit in programs with inexperienced teachers and large classroom sizes.

Children taught at an early age usually benefit in the following ways: improved social skills, less or no need for special education instruction during subsequent school years, better grades, and enhanced attention spans. Likewise, some researchers have concluded that young children enrolled in pre-school programs usually graduate from high school, attend college, have fewer behavioral problems, and do not become involved with crime in their adolescent and young adult years.

    BalasHapus
  18. The research detailing these benefits was completed during the 80’s. In addition to benefiting children experiencing normal development, it was also shown that children with learning or other physical disabilities benefit immensely from pre-kindergarten education. Also, children with parents highly involved in their pre-kindergarten education do not experience the same positive results from Head Start programs as children coming from homes where it’s not as much an emphasis. Children taught how to speak a second language during their early developmental years are also in a better position to learn English at a young age.

Many people do not feel the government should determine whether children should be required to receive formal pre-kindergarten education. One reason for this is children who are educated by their parents during their early developmental years experience the same benefits as children enrolled in pre-school programs, especially children receiving a lot of attention from parents. Parents deciding to educate their young children themselves should utilize creative ideas and activities when educating them.

No matter the differences in opinion about formal pre-kindergarten education, children benefit from receiving some type of education during their early developmental years. However, there is not one-size fits all instruction best suited for all children. While some children benefit immensely from pre-school, it may not be the best educational setting for other children. In most cases, children benefit most by receiving educational instruction from their parents. Parents must evaluate a child’s unique personality before determining which program is best suited for a child since not all programs benefit children the same way.

In most cases, children benefit most by receiving educational instruction from their parents. Parents must evaluate a child’s unique personality before determining which program is best suited for a child since not all programs benefit children the same way.

  20. Analysis
An article in Education Corner, "What Is So Important About Early Childhood Education?", concerns how importance of early childhood education in every country. The anonymous as the author discussed that many argue that early childhood education is not very important and quite done by parents. However, according to some studies, children who learn at an early age are more behaved and have higher IQ scores than upon enrolling kindergarten than their peers without formal education. Probably this research is the fact and can be justified, Because most of the information in this article is true and can be considered by parents.
In this article the author explains that children taught at an early age usually benefit in the following ways: improved social skills, less or no need for special education instruction during subsequent school years, better grades, and enhanced attention spans. Likewise, some researchers have concluded that young children enrolled in pre-school programs usually graduate from high school, attend college, have fewer behavioral problems, and do not become involved with crime in their adolescent and young adult years.
I strongly agree with the author that early childhood education is very important and has become the international spotlight. Early childhood education is a learning process which is done through play. Because through play, children do not feel compelled to learn and the child's brain is in a state of calm while playing. In early childhood education institutions which are good, the children learn to be an independent person, a strong social, confident, have a great curiosity, can take and develop ideas, fast to adapt, and enthusiasm for learning. Meanwhile, children who do not receive enough education at an early age, will slow to accept. Megawati (vice president at the time) when I opened the Conference Centre The Teachers Association of Consecrated VII Kindergarten Indonesia. She emphasized the importance of early childhood education in the concept of coaching and development of children attributed the formation of fully human characters. A Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago, James J. Heckman, stated that learning starts in infancy, long before formal education begins, and Continues throughout life. Early learning begets later learning and early success breeds later success, just as early failure breeds later failure.
In conclusion, early childhood education is very important because a lot of benefits and education during early childhood is the golden age.

  21. Higher education harmed by political system
Until our political culture changes to something less adversarial, says Peter Scott, higher education funding will continue to suffer
Peter Scott, The Guardian, Tuesday 3 May 2011. David Willetts, universities minister, prisoner of a hyper-adversarial political culture. The debate about the future funding of higher education is a case in point. The superficial impression is of high-stake "culture wars", with the government hell-bent on destroying public higher education in general, and the arts and humanities in particular, Ed Miliband's counter-proposals for a graduate tax (which, very sensibly, he has left vague) are nothing like as great – although it grieves me to admit it. No mainstream political party in England is fighting for "free" higher education funded out of general taxation.
In any case, Peter Mandelson, helped by David Willetts, had conspired to keep higher education off the election agenda by setting up the Browne Committee. Mandelson would have done much better to establish a royal commission. But the one thing that rival politicians caught up in our hyper-adversarial political culture agree on is that what we need are short-sharp committees, chaired by businessmen "resting" between corporate cock-ups, rather than long-winded royal commissions chaired by the great and the good, who strive for common-sense consensus. So the tragedy unfolded. The Treasury is insisting on tight controls on student numbers to curb public spending – which, perversely, by rationing demand will rescue low-esteem universities that charge too much. The policy environment produced by these events can only be described as a de-stabilising mixture of a Stalinist five-year plan and the California gold rush – not a comfortable place for a higher education system that is (still) world-class in terms of scientific productivity and teaching quality, and which has also made great strides towards becoming more open and socially inclusive.
They agree about putting greater emphasis on teaching, and even about the means to achieve this – more robust student/customer feedback. But, of course, this is not going to happen – not because Willetts and Denham are unreasonable men, but because both are prisoners of a hyper-adversarial political culture. And it is this that is the true obstacle to constitutional reform. Until that culture changes, the agony will continue for higher education – and the health service, local government. National Examination
    By Orphan

National Exam commonly abbreviated as UN / UNAS is a standard evaluation system of primary and secondary education in Indonesia and the equation of quality of education levels among the areas that conducted by the Center for Educational Assessment, Depdiknas in Indonesia based on Undang-Undang Republik Indonesia nomor 20 tahun 2003 states that in order to control the quality of education nationwide to be evaluated as a form of accountability of education providers to the parties concerned.
Further stated that the evaluations conducted by independent agencies on a regular basis, comprehensively, transparently, and systematically to assess the achievement of national education standards and the monitoring process evaluation should be done continuously.
Evaluation of the monitoring process is carried out continuously and continuous in the end will be able to fix the quality of education. Improving the quality of education begins with the determination of the standard. Determination standards continue to rise is expected to encourage increased quality of education, which is the determination of educational standards is the determination of the limit value (cut-off score).
Someone said to have passed / competent when it has passed the limit value of the boundary between learners who have mastered certain competencies with learners who have not mastered certain competencies. When that happens on the national exam or school then the boundary value function to separate the students who graduated and did not pass is called the limit of graduation, graduation delimitation activities called standard setting.

    National Examination
    By Orphan

A recent article of “National Examination” concern UN / UNAS is a standard evaluation system of primary and secondary education in Indonesia. Author Orphan discuss such as Depdiknas in Indonesia based on Undang-Undang Republik Indonesia nomor 20 tahun 2003 states that in order to control the quality of education nationwide to be evaluated as a form of accountability of education providers to the parties concerned. Probably because wrong the goal of the national examination sounds nice and reasonable but the practice has long been criticized. Last year, the national examination brought about controversies on the score conversion, which was considered not transparent.
Parents lamented on the fairness of the conversion and the school complained on the inconsistency. Then, the authority withdrew the decision on the controversial conversion.
On more fundamental bases, the educational practitioners criticize the exam too. The big question is “what for?” Do we need a national examination to improve the quality of education? Anyway, the government has promoted school-based management that promotes the autonomy of schools so that in the future each school has a root in the society and meets the demand of the society.
Further, then, each school has their own identity with its own uniqueness and excellences. This management system has been developed to answer the problems of a centralized educational system, applied since the New Order. The national examination, in this case, is not in line with the policy of school-based management.
The government believes that a standardized national examination can improve the quality of education since the students and the schools will try hard to meet the demand of the examination. However, education deals with human beings and the process of education is not like the production process in factories.
The examination is based on the accumulation of knowledge and skills mastered by the students during the process and the items of the test have been carefully framed on certain statistical considerations. Consequently, the examination measures not the whole achievement of the students, but a part: the cognitive faculty. The process of education, on the other hand, considers human beings as unique creatures with diverse and dynamic personalities. Their achievement, then, cannot simply be measured by a test.

  26. Overseas Education
Matters of education are one of the most important decisions of life as it holds the power to frame the personality, characteristics, and individuality of a person. In the new era of education today there are lot many changes in the global education system. Owing to a bundle of changes, the new age education system embraces ample of opportunities to explore and discover. Amongst the wide choices available, overseas education is one of the most lucrative and beneficial choice.
The trend of overseas education in India is increasing tremendously with leaps and bounds. Indian students are now progressively approaching to venture into the world of opportunities. There are many growth factors that are constantly pushing the growth of overseas education in the Indian scene and globalization is one of the key factors.

This also helps to stimulate academic learning and discipline along with polishing their skills and talents.
Apart from this overseas education has opened a gateway to immigration. Immigration through education has become the latest trend in global scenario. Many countries provide easy work permit as well as citizenship when applied through means of education. Today many countries like Canada, New Zealand, United States, and United Kingdom are embracing this latest trend and the applicants or immigrants are mostly to be from countries like India and China.
New Zealand is known to be a leader in terms of immigration through education. The country has friendly and supportive government policies along with advanced system of education. It is believed that education in the country facilitates entry of spouse and children along with the student. Over that it also provides work permit to spouse in order to make financial contributions to the family. This is certainly an inviting feature that all Indians look for.
Canada happens to be a hot destination because of its multicultural environment and United Kingdom is known for its high level of education along with its tremendous business prospects. Students are also immigrating to United States but this is one place where uncertainty is the rule of life. Everything changes from time to time but the education system is undoubtedly the most advanced. Another good aspect of the U.S is that it offers sponsorships to family members and close relatives. Even Australia cannot be left behind when it comes to immigration through education.

Owing to these numerous advantages, benefits and potentials offered through overseas education, the trend is constantly increasing and is sure to take over the education system in the years to go.
